Conference Room Port Activation

Task: Facility stated jacks in conference room work on and off. They would like to have a dedicated connection for laptops via ethernet cable instead of WiFi.

Arrival to client conference to address line issues.

Cat 6e drops

Customer stated two of three lines needed to be tested and activated. I also noticed possible line damage on ends and deteremined re-termination would add extra line integrity.

Lines re-terminated

After successfully re-terminating cable drops, it was time to test the run. Labels were present from previous work so this made it slightly easier to tone.

Successful tone and patch

The cable drops were found at the correct ports on patch panel. The patch cables to the switch were missing. I installed new patch cables from panel to switch. This should result in a successful IP ping.

After connecting my laptop to the newly re-terminated jacks, we were able to get a connection and IP address.

Floor Plate Connection and Labeling

Jacks were added to the floor plate and labeled. The labels matched the respective locations at the rack.

Floor plate was screwed mounted to the initial location under the conference room table. I made sure the connections were secure and strong.
